Already January – time flies! Today, I sent another set of my beech wood coasters to an American customer. These coasters are special, as they feature images of six popular chicken breeds. What’s fun is that these designs were inspired by my own chickens!
My chickens, my inspiration
I keep chickens as both companion and farm animals, and what a great decision that has been. My chickens are tame and each has its own unique character. Many people think all chickens are the same, but nothing could be further from the truth. Each breed has its quirks, and even the eggs vary greatly. Did you know, for example, that Araucana chickens lay blue-green eggs? Or that our Faverolles chickens produce beautiful pink-beige eggs? What’s also interesting is that all of the eggs have a rich orange yolk, thanks to the corn I spoil them with.
My chickens not only have unique appearances and personalities, but they also have names like Cocette, Clivia, Cees, Cester, Cochin, Charlie, Cintia, Coco, Charlotte, and Carlin. Currently, I am even painting personalized name plaques for each of them on small canvas boards. Keeping chickens is a source of inspiration, creativity, and of course… eggs!
From idea to product
The coasters were initially designed for myself. Since I often share my chicken adventures through photos, videos, and stories, I received so many positive reactions. This inspired me to turn my chicken breeds into designs for a laser printer.
The production process is something I’m very proud of. The beechwood coasters are placed in special molds, which I create using a 3D printer. This ensures they stay firmly in place during the laser engraving process, and each result is perfect. The final product is not only functional but also a piece of art for the table. The raised edge gives the coasters an elegant look while being practical to use.
Future collections
In addition to the chicken breeds, I’m now working on new designs. Think of coasters featuring popular dog breeds and even sets with spiritual meanings. It’s an amazing process to turn creative ideas into tangible products.
