Yesterday, we spent a day without internet, something that can easily happen here in the rural Burgundy countryside. In the past, we’ve even had two days without electricity. At times like these, you truly realize how dependent you are on power and the internet. Although we strive to live as self-sufficiently as possible and have an emergency plan in place, it still became clear how challenging it can be.

Fortunately, it was a beautiful day, which allowed us to take the opportunity to go on extra-long walks. Every now and then, we took a break on a bench to enjoy the stunning views. Despite the challenges, the day turned into an unexpectedly valuable experience.

The internet is back up, but that unexpected day without it gave us a valuable insight: sometimes it’s nice to truly disconnect and enjoy everything around you. A little peace, fresh air, and the beautiful landscape of Burgundy – no Wi-Fi can compete with that!
